Arts On The Black River is an event where art, nature, and gastronomy come together. It is a journey following in the footsteps of the Plenarists, painters who loved to paint en plein air, on site, capturing the landscapes of the Nera Valley and making them famous worldwide. In these breathtaking natural settings, performances of dance, music, and theater will take place.Briefing
We were tasked with creating the visual identity for the first edition of the festival. The event takes place in a single day, with various moments throughout, and blends different forms of art with nature and food. The client asked us to emphasize these aspects in the designBRAND
Solution
The identity is based on a fixed element, the headline, combined with icons representing the key elements of the event – music, dance, the river, food, etc. – depicted with monochromatic midnight blue imagery. The stylized waves not only represent water but also evoke the passage of time.
For the color palette, we drew inspiration from the colors the sun and sky take on during summer sunsets.
Our goal was to avoid cliché solutions and enhance the enchanting atmosphere of the location. The event started in the afternoon and continued into the late night, so for the headline, we used all the colors the sun takes on, from the yellow of the afternoon to the red/magenta of the sunset, contrasted with the pink and blue backgrounds. For the front of the business cards, we used sections of the images created for the posters and brochures.
